Which phones does Locago run on?
Locago is tested on a number of phones. This list of phones is available here.
Even if the phone is not on the list it might work. Generally, it should work on all phones with reasonable Java support, MIDP 2.0,
CLDC 1.1 and at least 1.5MB free heap space. A 3G network is preferred but not required.
At this moment Locago is not supporting phones wich uses touchscreen and a stylus. Locago might work partially but is not fully
supporting eg. scrolling and zooming on a touchscreen. Also see question below, I have a full keyboard device - how do I navigate the map?.
If you want to be notified when your phone is supported, please point your mobile browser at get.locago.com and fill in your phone
number (Note: This should be done in your phone browser. Locago then recognizes your phone model automatically.)
If you have a phone that is not at the list but on which Locago works well please send us an email at

I have questions/comments about the beta? What should I do?
Please send questions or comments about Locago beta to supportidevioYou must have JavaScript enabled to view this address. Later we will open a Forum for these matters.
Is it expensive to use Locago?
Locago is free to use but you pay for the data traffic to your phone operator. The price per megabyte is different depending on your deal with the operator.
Locago is very efficient and requires little data to be transferred. You can see how much that has been transferred since you started Locago in Menu → More... → Settings (in older versions: Menu → Settings).
You should take care when you are not in your home network (in another country), since the prices might then be much higher than normal (sometimes 10 times higher). You should check with your phone operator first.
How do I find an address?

In Menu → More... → Settings (in older versions Menu → Settings) you see in the top field how many KB (kilo bytes) that has been transferred since you started Locago.
I have a full keyboard device - how do I navigate the map?
On a full QWERTY keyboard you can navigate the map, i.e. pan and zoom, by accessing the number keys, often via the ALT key.
SonyEricsson P990 works best with Locago if you use the keypad lid in which case it works like any other keypad/joystick phone.
Locago is slow on my phone, is there anything I can do?
One thing is to turn off animations, they use a lot of processing power. In Menu → More... → Settings (in older versions Menu → Settings) uncheck Enable Animations.
My Locago behaves strangely, what should I do?
In Locago, please go to Menu → More... → Issue Report. Write a message that describes the problem and press Send. The development team will then receive a problem report and can hopefully, if there is a bug, fix it to the next release.
When starting Locago it keeps asking for permission to access internet/write to file. Anything I can do?
Go to the Locago icon (see "I have installed Locago but how do I start it?"), select More → Application Access and navigate to the Internet or file access properties. There you select Ask once or Never ask if possible.
Unfortunately these alternatives are not available on all phones.
I've used the the java demo on the website and now it's not working anymore.
Please restart your web browser and run the demo again. This is a known caching problem and only comes up in the web demo.
How do I activate the GPS?
To use a GPS, enable it in the Location tab
(
).
The alternatives are:
Note that no symbol is displayed on the map until the GPS gets a fix.
What does the GPS symbol mean?
The red X denotes the position where you most likely are. If the X gets gray, the position is old and no more positions are currently received.
How do I connect a bluetooth GPS?
This depends on the phone model.
Many Nokia devices and some others:
Connect the GPS with software on the phone.
Then Locago will see it as an internal GPS when you enable it in the Location tab
(
).
Most phones:
Start the bluetooth GPS, enable the GPS in the Location tab
(
) in Locago.
Locago should then automatically find the GPS.
Note that it will not show any position until the GPS gets a signal.
You can see if Locago has found the GPS by looking at Menu → More... → Settings.
There the field GPS Name shows the name of the connected GPS.
If this is not the right one, go out of reach from the connected GPS
and bring the one you would like to connect and then press Change Bluetooth GPS.
If this does not help, try restart Locago.
Where does the content in the Locago layers come from?
The content in the layers comes from a wide range of sources. This is the uniqueness of Locago, any geographic content could be made into a layer. Some is compiled into a layer all at ones (for instance speed cameras), some uses a live connection to the source to get the most recent data (for instance Flickr). The publisher of each layer is resposible for the content in the layer.
I have geographic content. How do I make a Locago layer from it?
See the Publish section of the Locago web site. You get there from the menu in the footer. If you have a limited amout of fairly static data you can publish it yourself. If you have large amounts or want to make a live connection, please contact saleslocagoYou must have JavaScript enabled to view this address..
